I am a Civil Engineer by profession with a Masters’s degree in Highway Engineering. I work in the Government of Tanzania. I am currently representing the Engineers Registration Board in the Working Group 1 (Infrastructure Safety Strategy and Action Plan) of the Ten Step Plan Project in Tanzania that has training ongoing. I am attending the training. My age is 56 years old; I am eager to learn and later participate in improving road safety in my country and the world. My experience, in a nutshell, is I started working in rural/urban areas as a site engineer in the early 1990s after obtaining my bachelor’s degree. After I got my Masters’s degree, I was transferred to the Ministry of Works (headquarters) to work as a Project Engineer and later Maintenance Engineer overseeing regional offices. I then joined the Roads Fund Board as an Engineer managing budgets and plans prepared by Road Agencies and then monitoring the utilisation of funds disbursed to them to ensure Value for Money. I then worked in a Bus Rapid Transit project overseeing the start of bus operations and infrastructure expansion for more BRT corridors.
